The short answer
Yes. Rebuilt or re-downloaded automatically when needed.
What is it?
Log files and crash reports written by apps and by macOS for your user account, including DiagnosticReports. Usually small, but a misbehaving app can write logs of hundreds of MB or more.
What happens if you delete it?
Apps create new logs as they run. Old logs are only useful for troubleshooting.
How to remove it properly
Move log files and folders older than about two weeks to the Trash, after viewing any you need in Console. Logs of running apps may be recreated straight away.
Quit the app that uses it, then move it to the Trash. Empty the Trash when you’re sure.
- MoreRoom only suggests items unused for 14 days or more.
Before you delete it
If you are working with a developer or Apple Support on a problem, keep recent logs until it is solved.
How MoreRoom helps
MoreRoom recognises this item, shows its real size and when it was last used, and labels it “Safe to remove”. In the free version you can move it to the Trash in one click, with Undo; Pro collects every safe item at once.
