The short answer
Yes. Rebuilt or re-downloaded automatically when needed.
What is it?
Playwright, the browser-testing library from Microsoft, downloads its own builds of Chromium into ~/Library/Caches/ms-playwright, one chromium-<build> folder per version. Each Playwright upgrade can bring a new build, and older ones may stay behind. Each version is typically a few hundred MB.
What happens if you delete it?
Removed versions are downloaded again only if a project still pins a Playwright release that needs them, when you run npx playwright install. The newest version is kept, so your current tests keep working.
How to remove it properly
Run npx playwright uninstall inside a project to remove browsers no longer used by any Playwright installation, or npx playwright uninstall --all to remove every browser Playwright downloaded. Otherwise move the older chromium-* folders to the Trash in Finder (Go › Go to Folder… ~/Library/Caches/ms-playwright).
Quit the app that uses it, then move it to the Trash. Empty the Trash when you’re sure.
- MoreRoom keeps the newest 1 and suggests the older ones.
Before you delete it
If an older project pins an earlier Playwright version, its tests will need a fresh download the next time you run them.
How MoreRoom helps
MoreRoom recognises this item, shows its real size and when it was last used, and labels it “Safe to remove”. In the free version you can move it to the Trash in one click, with Undo; Pro collects every safe item at once.
