The short answer
Yes. Rebuilt or re-downloaded automatically when needed.
What is it?
Bun stores every package it downloads in ~/.bun/install/cache, shared by all projects, and on macOS copies files into each node_modules as APFS clones by default. The cache grows with each new package version you install.
What happens if you delete it?
Bun downloads packages again the next time bun install needs them. Existing node_modules folders keep working.
How to remove it properly
Run bun pm cache rm in Terminal, Bun’s own command for emptying the global cache (permanent), or move ~/.bun/install/cache to the Trash. Only remove the cache folder: ~/.bun/bin contains Bun itself.
Quit the app that uses it, then move it to the Trash. Empty the Trash when you’re sure.
How MoreRoom helps
MoreRoom recognises this item, shows its real size and when it was last used, and labels it “Safe to remove”. In the free version you can move it to the Trash in one click, with Undo; Pro collects every safe item at once.
