## What is it?

Gradle writes compiled classes, packaged apps, intermediate files and test reports to a `build` folder next to each module’s `build.gradle` or `build.gradle.kts`, for example `app/build` in an Android project. Only folders in projects untouched for 30 days are considered. Android builds often take several GB.

## What happens if you delete it?

The next build recompiles everything, which can take several minutes. Your sources and Gradle configuration are not affected.

## How to remove it properly

Run `./gradlew clean` in the project, which deletes the build folders permanently, or move them to the Trash in Finder.

## Before you delete it

Copy any signed release APKs or bundles you want to keep out of `build/outputs` first.
