## What is it?

Each folder in `~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves` is one of your single-player Java Edition worlds, with its map, inventories and settings. Large, long-played worlds can reach several GB.

## What happens if you delete it?

Nothing regenerates: a deleted world is gone unless you have a backup. Java Edition single-player worlds are not synced to the cloud.

## How to remove it properly

Delete worlds you no longer want from Minecraft’s Singleplayer screen (select the world, then Delete). To keep a world but free space, back it up (select it, Edit, then Make Backup) and move the backup or the world folder to an external drive.

## Before you delete it

Move rather than delete any world you might want to play again.
