# Can I delete CrossOver bottles on Mac?

## What is it?

A CrossOver bottle is a self-contained Windows environment with the Windows apps or games you installed, their settings and often their saves. Bottles live in `~/Library/Application Support/CrossOver/Bottles`; game bottles commonly take tens of GB.

## What happens if you delete it?

A deleted bottle is not recreated: you would need to reinstall the software inside it, and documents or saves stored in it are lost.

## How to remove it properly

CrossOver cannot remove a single app from a bottle, so you delete the whole bottle from CrossOver: right-click it in the sidebar, choose Delete Bottle and confirm. To keep a copy, archive the bottle first with CrossOver’s archive feature.

## Before you delete it

Check the bottle’s `drive_c/users` folder for documents and saves before deleting it.
