## What is it?

Cypress, the end-to-end testing tool, stores its desktop app binary in `~/Library/Caches/Cypress`, one folder per version installed by your projects. Upgrading Cypress across projects leaves older binaries behind, each typically a few hundred MB.

## What happens if you delete it?

When a project needs a version that is no longer cached, Cypress downloads it again during `npm install` or `npx cypress install`. Your tests and settings live in your projects and are not affected.

## How to remove it properly

Run `npx cypress cache prune`, which deletes every cached Cypress version except the one the current project uses. `npx cypress cache list` shows what is cached and `npx cypress cache clear` removes everything. These commands delete permanently, without the Trash.
