## What is it?

LM Studio, a desktop app for running language models locally, keeps downloaded models in `~/.lmstudio/models`, grouped in one folder per publisher. Models are mostly GGUF or MLX files, typically a few GB to tens of GB each.

## What happens if you delete it?

Deleted models can be downloaded again from LM Studio’s model search, as long as they are still published.

## How to remove it properly

In LM Studio, open My Models and delete the models you no longer use. Quit LM Studio before removing folders by hand.

## Before you delete it

Models you added yourself (sideloaded or converted) may not be available to download again.
