# Can I delete old Claude Code versions in the Claude app folder?

## What is it?

The Claude desktop app downloads the Claude Code engine it uses into `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude-code`, one folder per version. Older versions can stay behind after updates, each typically a few hundred MB.

## What happens if you delete it?

The newest version is kept, so nothing changes for you. If an older version is ever needed again, the app downloads it.

## How to remove it properly

Quit Claude, then move the older version folders to the Trash in Finder (Go › Go to Folder… `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude-code`), keeping the most recent one.
